Tour De Cambridge

Hello fans,

The theme of today was the bicycle. The bicycle, also know as bike for short, was first introduced into Europe in the 19th century. It is a pedal driven, human powered vehicle with two wheels attached to a frame, one behind the other.
So today we all got a late start and had a chance to sleep in, finally. I woke up at about 11:25 and had a brunch of some sort with my host family. I had some toast and cereal and Harry had an omelette that Simon made. Simon continuously impresses me with each day. He is a phenomenal cook, he sews, and he's pretty good at all of Harry's video games. He's a great dad and is very in tune with his kids. Harry doesn't know how lucky he really is. He is free to do whatever he desires whether its video games or playing outside. Don't get me wrong, he doesn't run wild or anything, he's a very good kid. It's interesting the bond he shares with his father. Anyways back to Simon, so today he whipped up his omelette for Harry that he cooked first in a pan, then the rest in the oven. He said that it makes it rise, which I didn't understand at all, but it worked. Pretty cool. Anyways it looked pretty amazing, and he said he would make one for me soon, I'm pretty excited.

Here's Harry watching the cartoon network.

Harry and I do the fist pound. I showed him it and he seems to really like it. But he always says "respect" at the end. Nice.

Here's Simon with Buster

Here's Karen with Bess. She (the mom) is incredibly sweet and kind as well.
So at 1:30 I left to go meet the group so that we could all ride to the strawberry fair. We weren't quite sure how far away it was, but again, it was far.

Group ridingI felt a lot like my man Lance. I think we traveled halfway across Cambridge. I feel my legs getting into better bicycling shape. However, there is a very important issue that has become a big issue that I have not addressed. My butt hurts, really bad. Everyone else hurts bad as well. It's not just tender, it's pretty much raw. Everytime I sit down on the seat, it hurts bad. But I just think about Lance and I press on.
Maybe I need a pair of these, with the padding in the butt. So the ride definitely was interesting. We got split up and lost multiple times. But sweaty and mildly dehydrated, we all made it there relatively uninjured. There was a incident involving a bus and a curb, but nothing we couldn't handle.

Right away when we get there, we are thrown into the fair. There were people everywhere, it was a bit overwhelming. The fair was in this plot of land called Mid-summer common. There were vendors all over the place, various stands for clothing and sunglasses, food stands of all types of food. Also there was moon bounces, or bouncy castles as they call them.

Ani, Me, Kacie, and Leslie enjoying some coconut. Sorry Ani, Michael cut you off.

Laura and Kacie sharing a drink. Jennifer looks peeved.

Leslie and Michelle eating. Michael looks peeved.

Oh, and there was a tent appropriately titled:

Lost Children. The parents I suppose were waiting for their kids to turn up. I don't think they liked that I took a picture of them.

Clair, Susannah, and Natalie sitting. Now for the bands, they were pretty awful. It seemed like if you owned an instrument, you could play there. They sang about garbage and the music sounded like it too.

Notice the sign reads love music, hate racism. This is a great theme.

Now for the drugs. So there were people smoking weed and what not, which is what I expected. BUT I did not expect this. These kids are sucking helium, and quite a lot of it too. But they weren't doing it to make their voices sound funny. I guess you do what you can. So we stayed for a few hours, then rode back. I had a great time. It was fun just people watching.

Eh...

When I got back, my host family went to watch dog racing, which is apparently a popular and pricey thing to do. So Ani, Travis, and I went to a pub called the Red Lion for some food. Apparently though they only served Thai food. The food was not bad, but not worth 7.50 pounds.

After that we met the group again and walked to another pub called Robin Hood and Little John to hang out. Don't worry mom the drinking age here is 18 and I had just one.. except for Travis who had more than one.

The group:We sat around and talked until it closed. We met this less than sober old man that kept asking us where we were from. When we sad Texas, he kept trying to tell us about his Texas ranger badge that he had and kept singing random songs. Laura is from New Mexico, but everytime she said it, he kept going "MEXICO!"

Myself, Clair, Jennifer, and Laura sitting.

Ani assaulting Clair's face.

Then we left soon before it closed and walked back.

Tomorrow, I'm not quite sure what we are doing. I know a few of us want to go to King's College Chapel to check out what a Church of England is like. Other than that, tune in tomorrow to find out. Respect.

um. Lance is a badass. Just don't let it turn into a man-crush ok? By the way, you are making my blog look infinitely less entertaining than I'd like it to be. thanks for that.

I've enjoyed your blog so far James. Very entertaining! I have some catching up to do, but I be up to date in no problem. It will give me something fun to do during down time at work. Anyways, sorry to hear about your memory card! But keep the pictures coming, they are great. How was that English Beer? Hope everything is awesome.
